Predictions came true and the hot favourite of this year's Eurodanceweb Award
finally brought the very first victory for her own Country. Inna, representing
Romania, indeed won the 2010 Eurodanceweb Award with "Sun Is Up". Born in 1986,
Inna is actually the most popular Romanian singer. With her debut single "Hot",
produced by the famous duo Play & Win, she shot to worldwide fame in 2008, even
peaking at number 1 of the U.S. Bilboard's Hotdance Airplay. "Sun is up" was
released in the Summer of 2010 just for the Eastern European market, reaching
number 2 in the Romanian Top 100 and the sixth place in Russia. The videoclip of
this song was filmed in Spain last August and was then premiered one month
later, collection more than one million views on Youtube in just one week!
Runner up of
this edition was the Swedish singer Velvet with the Pitchline remix of "My
Destiny", included in her second album "The Queen". Since 2005, Velvet has
released more than 10 singles, which always entered the the top 20 of her
Country's hitlist and met international success.
With the song
"The Day After" (Will I Be Free) Israel achieved its best result to date in our
competition. The single was produced by Roni Meller featuring the Belgian group
Dee Dee,
one of the most successful dance acts from around the beginning of the new
millenium.
Several other big names of the International music scene were nominated this
year, such as the British producer Guru Josh (#4 with "Eternity"), author of
"Infinity" which was one of the biggest tunes of 2008, and the Belgian singer
Anna Grace (#6 with "Love Keeps Calling"), lead vocalist of the famous dance act
Ian Van Dahl.
Italy was represented with "Pioggia d'Estate", the lastest single of Paola &
Chiara, the two sister-duo who stormed the International charts in 2000 with
their summer hit "Vamos a bailar".
Different music styles featured in the lineup: from hands up, to folk, from
italo-dance to house music, mixed with south American or Arabic influences. A
perfect combination of various genres is the
Lebanese nominee "Yama Lajali" (#10), performed by the star Haifa Webhe and
produced by the very popular French dj David Vendetta.
For the very first time Egypt entered the contest and the honour of debuting
went to Lara Scandar, a young girl who was a finalist in the Arab edition of the
talent show "Star Academy". Her first single "My mission is you" was launched in
the Spring of 2010 with a music video created by the Norwegian award winning
photographer Ray Kay, who directed Lady Gaga in the videoclip of "Pokerface".
